Assessment of Technical Education (NBA)-NIRF Ranking College

Technical Education is the backbone of any country. The overall development of any country depends upon the youth who are participating in technological development, new research activities and infrastructure building. For all these, education and skill development are the most important criteria.

For technical education institutes or colleges are platforms for students. After privatization self-financed colleges came in existence other than IITs, NITs and RECs and due to this, there is a huge number of colleges in each state. So for the student’s point of view, it is very difficult to choose the right college because in the commercial world where advertisements are playing a very important role, everyone clamming for being best.

For the assessment of colleges, to ensure the quality education and to promote the outcome-based education in India; AICTE took initiative for Accreditation of all colleges and formed the National board of Accreditation (NBA). The NBA gives certification of the assessment to colleges, which are satisfying a well defined criterion and securing marks as per NBA guidelines during the visit of experts.

Mainly the assessment is having performance verticals which include College, Department, Faculty, Student and improvements. The performance of students can be assessed with the help of results, placements, higher study their involvement in research and other activities. Similarly, the performance of faculty members can be assessed with the help of their qualification, teaching methodology, innovation, research activity, publications, projects, patents, product developments and the number of years they are investing in a current institute for the betterment. The NBA is mainly focusing on outcome-based education so they defined possible program outcomes and the department is doing exercise to achieve the target which is being fixed by the department itself. Now the evaluation of POs is based on each and every course which is being taught in the department. So Course outcome is a measurement of every subject that is, what outcome being as a faculty we are expecting from the subject and what exactly we are getting. So in outcome-based education, there is a flexibility to redefine our target at the faculty level or at department level. So in short Accreditation is a process which can assess the quality of college as well as the department.

Now AICTE suggests to each institute for Accreditation of their departments and very soon it will be mandatory for all. After Accreditation all institute will be at the same platform and it will be very helpful to our students also to get a quality education. Recently the Computer Science & Engineering Department of IIMT college of Engineering got Accreditation by NBA. There are very few colleges in NCR which are NBA accredited and it shows the clear Vision and outcome-based education is being provided by IIMT college of engineering.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES

Artificial Intelligence Course in Delhi NCR | IIMT Group Of College

We learn technology but the beauty of Artificial Intelligence course is that it learns us, it observes us, it looks at the way we are answering the questions and then taking that data point it anticipates what our answers will be in a certain situation. The term artificial intelligence was first used by John McCarthy in Dartmouth Conference in 1956. There are various examples of AI in our daily life such as virtual assistant like Siri and Alexa, entertainment like Netflix and YouTube, automobiles like Tesla etc.

It was after the invention of computers when AI began to excite researchers where things could be done at a faster pace than a human. In a country like India AI can stimulate various opportunities followed by certain challenges for Indian industries. Being one of the fastest growing nations India has lot of scope for AI. The government is also playing a crucial role in leaving no stone upturned to seek benefits and to drive massive changes in the economy. There are various sectors for businesses to exploit AI opportunities such as healthcare, banking, banking, agriculture, transport and education. In 2018 NITI Ayog

spearheaded a national programme on ‘National Strategy for AI’ in February 2018 which addresses what would be India’s strategy in AI. According to the discussion paper given by NITI Ayog on AI there are over 30 policy recommendation which will help in encouraging training, scientific research and will also promote privacy and security in AI.

There are various opportunities where AI can contribute in the growth of

economy such as:

• It is a versatile platform which enables Aadhaar, digital banking and KYC

for customers.

• Private sector plays an important role in investment in different fields

of AI. It can be the biggest commercial opportunities for businesses.

• The use of AI can help in automating government process. It can

improve transparency, efficiency and privacy issues.

• ‘Make in India’ program can be benefited by encouraging startups

in the application of AI.

As every opportunity comes with various challenges, some of them are:

  • AI has threatened white collar jobs. For e.g Telemarketing, Bookkeeping clerk, Retail salespeople etc.

  • There is high resource cost in adoption of AI and also awareness is low.

  • AI algorithm raises privacy issue and ethical regulations.

  • Low intensity of AI research. According to Global AI Talent Report 2018 out of the 22,000 PhD educated researchers worldwide in Artificial Intelligence (AI), only 386 are in India.

Conclusion:

In India adoption of AI remains limited. The estimates indicate that only 22% of the firms in India use AI in any business process. Indian start-ups have been able to raise just USD87 million in 2017, as against over USD28 billion raised by the Chinese start-ups in 2017. The collaboration for research projects should be increased and the deserving start-ups should be funded by the government to increase the participation of digital giants.

WHAT BLACKBOARD / CHALKBOARD REFLECTS DURING TEACHING ?

A chalkboard stands silently as a piece of furniture in a classroom. You can either

ignore it or use it haphazardly or employ it as a mirror of your mind. It can serve as

a mirror to reflect your thoughts to your students as you write on it while teaching.

A few guidelines will help you for effective use of blackboard / chalkboard.

Chalkboards may be used very effectively by following some basic guidelines:

1. Clean the chalkboard completely before starting your session. A clean board reflects the clarity of your mind and prevents the students from distractions. Also ensure glare-free visibility of the written word to all the students.

2. Write on it according to a pre-decided plan. Decide to write less and mean more.

3. Don’t speak to the chalkboard. Keep turning back and forth: speak the students while writing on the board.

4. Stand clear of the written word. Do not hide what you write. Allow the students to see the board uninterrupted.

5. Don’t scratch a word here and a line there. Do not crowd the board with too much matter. Plan your rubbing-off sequence. Rub off a section of the board and write there. Then rub off the rest of it.

6. Hold the chalk between the thumb and the fingers. Use colored chalks in order to distinguish some parts and to highlight some components of the visuals on the board.

7. At the end of a teaching session, the teacher must clean the board as a matter of courtesy for the next teacher. A clean board would help him/her to start with a clean slate.

In brief,blackboard/chalkboard is a teacher’sreal asset in class teaching as it serves to make direct appeal to child’s senses and seeks strengthen the retention and assists the recall of facts.
